Dr. Leroy Carson, Jr. is a passionate scholar of entrepreneurship, innovation, and business. He is driven by a desire to understand the intricacies of resource allocation across the evolutionary stages of small enterprises. His research is guided by three focal points:

  • The significance of robust entrepreneurial ecosystems: Dr. Carson believes that entrepreneurial ecosystems play a vital role in the economic development of a region. He is committed to unraveling the construction and streamlining of efficient entrepreneurial ecosystems.

  • The experiences of minority entrepreneurs: Dr. Carson is interested in the unique challenges and opportunities faced by minority entrepreneurs. He is committed to unearthing successful paradigms and dismantling barriers to minority entrepreneurship.

  • The progression from ideation to tangible implementation: Dr. Carson is fascinated by the process of bringing ideas to life. He is committed to crafting sustainable business frameworks that can help entrepreneurs turn their dreams into reality.

Dr. Carson's research is inspired by a dual purpose: to expand the frontiers of knowledge within entrepreneurship and to empower innovation protagonists. He believes that his work can make a positive impact on the intellectual and economic landscapes.

The captivating realm of Stories in E&I (Entrepreneurship & Innovation) unfolds as a dynamic canvas where Dr. Carson, a visionary social scientist, meticulously validates a hypothesis that stands as an affirmation: success invariably leaves clues. Within this enthralling series, he intricately intertwines a multifaceted effort aimed not only to illuminate the proven tapestries of accomplishment but also imbues spectators with transformative clues. These insights are poised to not only embolden and energize but also to guide and propel individuals towards the pursuit of their audacious dreams, igniting the flames of innovation and entrepreneurship within their very cores.

As the inaugural director of the Oglethorpe University future Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center, I have a pivotal role in spearheading its establishment. In this capacity, my responsibilities include the comprehensive design and curation of the university's pioneering suite of entrepreneurial courses. I am devising the entire academic content, ensuring that it resonates with contemporary industry trends and aligned with the evolving needs of aspiring entrepreneurs.

Furthermore, I have the formidable responsibility of conceptualizing, refining, and executing an unparalleled student experience to place within this future dynamic Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center. My efforts are aimed at cultivating an environment that fosters holistic growth, equipping students not only with theoretical knowledge but also with practical acumen essential for success in entrepreneurial endeavors. I will work to build both degreed and certificate-oriented programming that will bridge the gap between academia and real-world application.

Beyond immediate course development, I am also building a forward-looking strategy that will enable the institution to establish a framework for continuing education classes. This will allow the center to extend its impact beyond traditional students, engaging professionals seeking to augment their entrepreneurial skill set. This vision will lay the groundwork to establish both a future minor and major in entrepreneurship while fostering a culture of innovation throughout the university.

My commitment to excellence is consistently manifested in the accolades received from the Oglethorpe University community via student evaluations. Semester after semester, my teaching and mentorship consistently garners exceptional praise as quantified by each courses end-of-semester internal evaluations, affirming my role as a catalyst for a transformative learning experiences. Externally, this recognition extended to platforms such as RateMyProfessor.com, where I consistently ranked among an exclusive cohort of Oglethorpe University's most esteemed educators.

Dr. Leroy Carson, Jr. is an active member of the Center for Engaged Business Research (CEBR), a platform that facilitates collaborative research between DBA alumni, faculty, and doctoral students. CEBR's mission is to foster cutting-edge research initiatives that yield actionable insights and theoretical advancements. Dr. Carson's participation in CEBR is pivotal, as he brings fresh perspectives to each research project. CEBR also organizes workshops and seminars that bridge the gap between businesses and academia. In addition, CEBR manages Robinson's DBA alumni network, providing a forum for networking and collaboration. Dr. Carson's affiliation with CEBR underscores his commitment to advancing business knowledge and forging lasting connections.
